Meet Dan Richards

Business & Organization Design Strategist, Leadership Coach

Dan began his career with General Motors in engineering and manufacturing roles before leading a start-up packaging machinery business later acquired by Nabisco’s primary co-packer. After the sale of his company, Dan focused on leadership development and change management projects primarily in McKinsey and Gemini alumni networks. He helped executives and their teams at Emory University Health Care, MCI Telecommunications, Ivan Allen Company, Steelcase, Amgen and others throughout the business transformation process including strategy formulation and organization redesign integrated with appropriate change management efforts. Some of Dan’s recent corporate clients include Chesapeake Energy, Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO), John Deere and Equifax. After working on a joint nonprofit client with Laurie Kirkegaard in 1988, Dan became passionate about utilizing his talents in the nonprofit sector, and has helped NPL Principals with business strategy, financial management and organizational design with clients such as Girls Incorporated, The Camp Coca-Cola Foundation, The YMCA of Greater Atlanta, The Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum, Earth University, The American Lung Association and the Community Assistance Center. He has also been a featured trainer at The NPL Learning Center©.

Dan received an Industrial Engineering degree from General Motors Institute in 1980 (now Kettering University) and an MBA from Harvard in 1982. He taught Operations Management and Operations Strategy in Georgia State’s MBA program 1989–1991.
